New Delhi, Delhi, 18th of May, 2026 : Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya held an interaction meeting with the Chief Minister of Mizoram Shri. Lalduhoma at the Chief Minister’s Office on Sunday (17th May, 2026).
On the occasion, Shri B. Lalchhanzova, Hon’ble Minister of State, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Government of Mizoram, along with Shri Ravi Dadhich, Secretary to the Government of Mizoram, FCS&CAand officials from both the Central and State Governments were also present.

During the meeting discussion took place on ensuring food security for NFSA beneficiaries in Mizoram, ensuring availability of food grain under OMSS-D and rightful targeting.
The Chief Minister also urged the Union Minister to increase the number of godowns and warehouses in Mizoram. He informed that under the Central Sector Scheme “Storage and Godowns” – Grant-in-Aid, Mizoram had received ₹19.22 crore during 2019–2020, which was utilized for construction of 10 godowns across the State.

In reply Union Minister informed about storage capacity planned in the state under PEG scheme. Besides storage capacity is being created across country under “world’s largest storage plan” of Ministry of Cooperation. Union Minister also informed the chief Minister about new initiatives of the Central government like Grain ATM and Central Bank Digital Currency(CBDC).

The Chief Minister further requested support for procurement of Bharat Rice to meet the State’s requirements. In response, Smt. Nimuben Bambhaniya clarified that there is no issue in availability of rice under‘Bharat Rice’ scheme and assured that any existing inconsistencies regarding distribution would be addressed by the Ministry.
