Hon’ble Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal unveiled the statue Birsa Munda on the occasion of ‘Janajati Gourab Diwas’ at Banabithi Eco Park, Khowai district on Tuesday (15th November, 2022). Janajati Gourab Diwas is observed to mark the birth anniversary of revered tribal leader and freedom fighter Birsa Munda. Hon’ble Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and chief guest Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha were felicitated with turbans and bows by the Munda community.
“The new generation should be inspired in the spirit of patriotism by studying the biography of Birsa Munda. Only then will Birsa Munda’s birthday celebrations be meaningful in a practical sense” said Hon’ble Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at unveiling the statue of freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has highlighted the biography of freedom fighter and focused over the achievement of this adorable leader’s idealism. Pratima Bhoumik, Hon’ble MP and Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Sushanta Chowdhury, Hon’ble minister, Information & Cultural Affairs, Sports, PWD (DWS) also spoke at the event.
Tripura Tea Development Corporation (TTDC) Chairman Santosh Saha, MLA Kalyani Roy, Tripura Pradesh BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee, Secretary of Tripura Sports Council Amit Rakshit and many other dignitaries were present at the programme.
