‘Videsh Sampark’ Programme Organized by Home Department Government Of Tripura.

Agartala, Tripura, 29th of July, 2024 : With the initiative of Home Department Government of Tripura ‘Videsh Sampark‘ (Foreign Relations Programme) programme organized in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs Government of India at State Guest House, Agartala on Monday (29th July, 2024). This is for the first time that the state’s Home Department, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India organized such an awareness programme.

Addressing an awareness programme of ‘Videsh Sampark’ the Joint Secretary (Diaspora Engagement) to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Ankan Banerjee said, this event is being organized since 2017 to bring the Union Ministry of External Affairs on the same platform with the administration of each state of the country. This awareness program is organized to assist the State Government in providing necessary facilities, consular services and preventing infiltration to Indians living, working and studying abroad. As a result, both the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the State Governments are apathetic about their responsibilities, proper management. He said that currently there are approximately 3 crore 50 lakh Indians abroad.

Addressing an awareness program of ‘Videsh Sampark’ Regional Passport Officer Ashish Middha said, that RPO Kolkata includes West Bengal, Tripura, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. There are Passport Seva Kendras at Agartala and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras at Dharmanagar. Every day 270 passport applicants are interviewed in Agartala and 40 in Dharmanagar.

Secretary of the State Home Department Pradip Kumar Chakraborty delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. In his welcome address he informed  the representatives of the Ministry of External Affairs about the infiltration of Rohingyas in the State, bringing the dead bodies of the state citizens abroad and some other issues.

Russal Garg, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs, Nitesh Kumar, Director (EP & W), Jharna Debbarma, Chairperson of the Tripura Commission for Women, secretaries, directors senior officials  were present in the event.
