World Bank 6th Implementation Mission Focuses On Consensus Building And Capacity Strengthening Under TRESP.

Agartala, Tripura, 4th of June 2026 : As part of the World Bank’s 6th Implementation Support Mission (ISM) under the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), a series of activities focusing on stakeholder consensus building and staff capacity strengthening were conducted across the state.

A key highlight of the mission was the District and Block Level Mid-Term Review (MTR) Workshop on the Livelihood Sector, organized by the Project Management Unit (PMU), TRESP, in collaboration with the World Bank at Pragna Bhawan, Agartala. The workshop brought together PMU officials, district and block project teams, representatives of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), and World Bank experts to assess the progress of livelihood interventions implemented during the first half of the project period.

The review covered major livelihood sectors including Agriculture and Horticulture, Livestock Development, Fisheries, and other community-based livelihood initiatives aimed at improving income opportunities and socio-economic conditions of tribal households across Tripura. Through technical presentations, thematic discussions, experience sharing, and interactive sessions, participants reviewed achievements against project targets, identified implementation challenges, documented best practices, and developed strategies for strengthening project delivery during the remaining implementation period.

The workshop was guided by World Bank official Amit Arora , Shouvik Mitra along with PMU IBSI Specialist Sonali Laskar and Agriculture Specialist Subrata Shib, who emphasized the importance of strengthening field-level capacities, improving coordination mechanisms, and adopting result-oriented approaches to achieve the project’s development objectives.

Simultaneously, a World Bank delegation led by Social Safeguard Specialist of TRESP -PMU ,Dr. Reshmi Ghosh undertook extensive field visits across Gomati district to review environmental and social safeguard measures associated with TRESP infrastructure interventions. The team, comprising World Bank Social Safeguard Expert Varun Singh, Executive Engineer Nikuline Chakma, PWD officials, SDO Ompi Swaroj Barman, and PMU and PIU TRESP officials, visited several road and infrastructure project sites including Taidu VC Road, Ompi–Sarthum Road via Kalachanpara, AT Road–Jadavpara Road, Chalakaham Higher Secondary School construction site, Karbook road package works, Lampra Bazar Road, Baidyanath Para Road, and Bethcharra Road.

During the visits, the delegation interacted with voluntary land donors, titleholders, non-titleholders, villagers, and project stakeholders to assess community participation, address concerns, and strengthen consensus around project implementation. The team also reviewed construction camps and appreciated the adoption of good environmental and social practices, including regular toolbox meetings, community coordination mechanisms, health camps, worker safety measures, and compliance with World Bank environmental and social safeguard policies.

The combined activities of the mission highlighted TRESP’s commitment to participatory development, institutional capacity building, community engagement, and responsible infrastructure development. The recommendations and insights emerging from both the Mid-Term Review Workshop and field safeguard assessments are expected to further strengthen project implementation and contribute towards achieving sustainable livelihood enhancement and improved service delivery for tribal communities across Tripura.
