Teliamura, 7th April, 2024 : A person died after being trampled by a wild elephant. The incident took place on Sunday evening around 7 pm in Maharani area under Teliamura police station on today (7th April, 2024). As soon as the news of the incident spread, a terrible situation was created in the area. The locals attacked the TSR forces and forest department personnel. Residents complained that this incident happened due to the negligence of the forest department staff. Even the local journalists faced obstacles from the local people to covering the news.
Once again a wild elephant attacked Chakma Ghat’s Kapaliti area on Sunday evening, killing him on the spot. The deceased person was identified as 70-year-old Nirud Chowdhury.
After receiving information about the incident, the Police from Teliamura police station reached the spot the local residents attacked them. As usual, the news covering the media personnel went to the spot after getting the news of the death of people in the violence in the area. Shantanu Sarkar, Rakhal Deb Rahul Das, Mousumi Sarkar Chowdhury, Sanjit Chowdhury, and others miscreants including journalist Hiranmoy Roy attacked, stole his video recording lights.
Journalist Hiranmoy Roy was injured during the news covering. After treatment at the hospital, he went to the police station. All the journalists rushed to the news of the incident. Filled a complain in the police station by naming in this regard.
