With the initiative of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission, Rural Development Department, Government of Tripura 17th Regional SARAS Fair 2022 has been organized at International Fair Ground, Hapania, Agartala on Friday (18th November, 2022). In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated 17th Regional SARAS Fair 2022 by lighting the lamp.
“Making women self-reliant is one of the goals of the State Government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to empower women and achieve economic self-reliance the State Government is working towards this goal”, said Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at inaugural ceremony of SARAS Fair. The Chief Minister said, the present Central and State Government have given importance to women’s self-empowerment. Economic development of the country and state will accelerate if rural women become financially self-reliant. The present State Government has made serious efforts for the development of rural women.
Highlighting the statistics of Self-Help groups in the State, the Chief Minister said that in the financial year 2017-18, the number of women members in Self-Help groups in the State was 39 thousand 824. After the present Government came to power, the number of women members increased to 3 lakh 45 thousand. As of 2017-18, the number of Self-Help groups in the state was 4,153. After the arrival of the current government, it has increased to 38 thousand 657.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister unveiled a book titled “Lakhpati Didi” on the success stories of women of Self-Help groups. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Theme Pavilion of the 17th Regional SARAS Fair 2022.
Smitha Mol, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) delivered the welcome speech at the inaugural function. Dr. Sandeep R. Rathod, Special Secretary RD also spoke on the occasion. West Tripura District DM Debapriya Bardhan delivered the vote of thanks. Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder, Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Antara Deb (Sarkar), MLA Mimi Majumder and other dignitaries were present at the inauguration ceremony. This fair will continue till November 30.
