Ampi, 25th of August 2024 : Fish cultivators in Gandaek village under North Tuidu VC in Ampinagar block, Gomati Tripura are under great depression. Due to constantly heavy rain in last few days enormous water body has vanished many check dams; broken them excessively. The furious flood tide has washed away all ponds and lakes including fishes. The poor fishery beneficiaries could not do anything against the great wrath of the mature. Large quantity of fishes from each project have been disappeared creating big devastation for each beneficiary of the area. Now the condition of all fish cultivators is pitiful; check dams are blank; no water no fish.
One group of the beneficiaries said, “Check dams & ponds are our main family income source. No fishes have been left in our ponds and lakes now. In this circumstance we have not any alternative way to maintain our family. This unexpected flood has totally destroyed us. We are in great distressed; do not find way to maintain our family expenditure as well as financial support for our children who are studing in other places. We need urgent assistance from the government to re-establish our fishery project.”
The concerned fishery departmental authorities must visit this victim village to investigate the great loss of the fish cultivators and take immediate initiative to assist them, demanded the poor victim fish cultivators.
