192 Kg Of Dried Cannabis Seized At Anandabazar Naka Point, Two Detained.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 8th of October, 2026 : Acting on a tip-off, police conducted an operation at Anandabazar Naka Point under the Dharmanagar subdivision and seized a large quantity of dried cannabis. On Wednesday (7th October, 2026) afternoon, Dharmanagar Police and Anandabazar Police jointly carried out the operation and intercepted a vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of approximately 192 kg of dried cannabis. Two persons travelling in the vehicle were detained in connection with the incident.

According to police sources, at around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, acting on confidential information, police launched a checking operation at Anandabazar Naka Point. During the operation, a vehicle bearing registration number TR 01 BC 1518 was intercepted on suspicion. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a large quantity of dried cannabis. After weighing, the seized cannabis was found to be approximately 192 kg.The two persons travelling in the vehicle were detained. Police identified them as Jalal Uddin (27) and Momin Mia (26). Both are reportedly residents of Agartala, according to preliminary information. The seized cannabis and the vehicle used for transportation have been taken into police custody.

Police stated that the seized narcotic substance was confiscated in accordance with legal procedures. The seizure was carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and other officials. Meena Debbarma, Officer -in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station, said the approximate market value of the seized dried cannabis is ₹20–25 lakh.Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to determine where the large consignment of cannabis originated and where it was headed. The detained individuals are being questioned to ascertain whether others are involved in the alleged drug trafficking operation. Investigators are also examining whether a larger network is behind the transportation of the cannabis.

The police operation at Anandabazar Naka Point once again highlights the vigilance of the law-enforcement agencies in preventing drug trafficking in the area. As the investigation progresses, further information regarding the source and destination of the seized cannabis, as well as other individuals allegedly involved in the trafficking network, may emerge.
