Agartala, Tripura, 29th of May, 2025 : With the initiative of Maharaja Bir Bikram University (MBB), Agartala the 1st Convocation organized at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala, Tripura on Thursday (28th May, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy Nallu and Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.
Addressing at the 1st Convocation of MBB University Hon’ble Governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy Nallu said that the pace of technological development is unprecedented at present. Which is changing the shape of our lives every moment. But we have to accept these technologies with caution and awareness. Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya was a true progressive person. He understood that the future of the state depends on the modernization of education. Addressing the students, the Governor said that even in the era of artificial intelligence, humanism, empathy, creativity, critical thinking and the ability to adapt to change make a student invaluable to the society.
The Governor also added that Technology changes with time. But learning skills and values remain eternal. The Governor called upon everyone to work for the development of the state with spirit, determination, rich diversity and culture.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the State Government has taken the initiative to develop Maharaja Bir Bikram University as an advanced university with overall quality. In this regard, the Government is moving forward with a far-reaching plan.
“The convocation ceremony is a special moment in the life of degree-winning students. Our country has a tradition of education system since ancient times. Earlier, students from abroad used to come to study at Nalanda University in our country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuously trying to revive this tradition of education. Based on the traditional culture, and tradition of our country, a new National Education Policy has been launched after many years.” Chief Minister added.
Highlighting the momentous occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha remarked, the new National Education Policy is also being implemented in the educational institutions of the State. India’s contribution in mathematics, science, yoga and philosophy is still recognized worldwide. The new National Education Policy-2020 has integrated this glorious tradition into the modern curriculum. A course on Indian Knowledge System has been introduced at M.B.B. University. To further expand the career opportunities of the students, the Chief Minister also mentioned the plan to introduce B.B.A., M.B.A., B.C.A., M.C.A., B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biotechnology. courses at M.B.B. University.
“The use of technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made education more effective and accessible. Assistant Professors have already been appointed for colleges. New colleges are being opened under Government initiatives. Tuition fees have been waived for girl students. Schemes like the The Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana have also been launched.”, Chief Minister added
The Chief Minister also added that Free scooties are being distributed to deserving students. The degree holders that as they step into the next stage of life, they will have to face various challenges. However, they will have to face every challenge with competence and skill and move forward in life. He urged the students to show respect to everyone as well as be humble. The Chief Minister wished success to all the university degree holders in their future lives and endeavors.
In this convocation, the certificates of passing were given to the students who have completed Ph.D., Master’s, Bachelor’s degrees and Post Graduate Diploma. 135 meritorious students were honored with medals for academic excellence. Hon’ble Governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy Nallu and Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other guests presented the certificates and medals to them.
