Sonamura, Tripura, 16th of September, 2025 : Sonamura Police, in joint operations with 81th BN BSF, Forest officials, and other agencies, carried out a massive crackdown on illicit Cannabis (Ganja) cultivation on Tuesday (16th September, 2025) from 8:30 am to 1 pm at various locations of the district.
According to sources, Sonamura Police Station conducted raid and searched at Dhanirampur area under Sonamura police station. A large-scale destruction operation was conducted under Sonamura Police station leading by Inspector Tapas Das, Officer in Charge Sonamura Police Station covering Bashkhola, Lupimara, Sapai Para, 18 Doom and Jumer Para, Kiris Long area in Vijayanagar area with support from 81 BN BSF (Dhanpur, Batadola, Matinagar, NC Nagar BOPs), Sonamura & Boxanagar Forest teams, and other sister agencies.
A total of Twenty (20) cannabis (Ganja) plots and Six (6) cannabis nurseries over 25 acres were destroyed, uprooting approximately 3.75 lakh plants. Sonamura Police reiterated its commitment to a drug-free society through strict continuous enforcement measures.
