With the initiative of Forest Department Government of Tripura in collaboration with JICA SCATFORM Project “2nd Buyer & Seller Meet 2022” on Agar Products has been organized at Hotel Polo Towers, Agartala on Wednesday (23rd November, 2022). Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the three-day Buyer & Seller Meet 2022 on Agar Products by lighting the lamp.
“There is huge potential for development of agar based industries in the state. The State Government has taken advantage of this potential for the economic development of the State”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the 2nd Buyer & Seller conference. The Chief Minister said that the agar of India is much better than the agar of other countries of the world. Agar based businesses in the State have huge potential for expansion.
“The State Government is serious enough to take the agar sector forward. He said that there are more than 12 million agar trees in the private sector in the State. The Government of India has already approved the export of 25 metric tons of agar wood chips and 1,500 kg of agar oil from the country”, the Chief Minister said at conference. The Chief Minister also said that the present State Government is committed to the development of the agar sector.
Dr. A.M. Kanfade CEO & PCCF JICA SCATFORM Project delivered the welcome speech at the inaugural conference. Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, KS Shetty, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) also spoke on the conference . Rashmi Verma, former Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Government of India, Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC), chairman Tinku Roy and other dignitaries were present in the Conference.
