Agartala, 5th of January 2024 : “2021, 2022 and 2023 upto 31st August set up three General Degree Colleges in the state. These are General Degree College Panisagar, General Degree College Old Agartala and Sri Aurobindo General Degree College (English Medium), Agartala.”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha gave this information reply to a question by Leader of Opposition party Animesh Debbarma in the Assembly Session on Friday (5th January, 2024). The Chief Minister said that in addition to 3 general degree colleges, 1 law college has been set up in the state under Public-Private Partnership (PPP). This is Jirania ‘Law College’ Mohanpur Jirania. Also a private college called Swami Dhananjoy Das Kathia Baba Mission School” is functioning in West Bhubanban, Agartala.
The Chief Minister added that in the construction of a new college, priority is usually given to the place where the college will be built, considering the number of students who have passed from the nearby higher secondary school, the demand of the college, the suitable place for the college and the location of other colleges in the nearby area.
