Dharmanagar, Tripura, 3rd of March, 2026 : A tragic accident took place on Tuesday evening at a sweet shop named ‘Narayan Sweets’ in the Kameswar Lalbazar area under Dharmanagar subdivision. Two workers sustained severe burn injuries after a large pan of hot oil overturned while frying chops inside the shop.According to eyewitnesses, the workers were frying chops for sale as usual when the container filled with hot oil suddenly tipped over due to carelessness. The splashing oil caused serious burn injuries to both employees. The incident created panic in the area.

On receiving the information, personnel from the Dharmanagar Fire Department rushed to the spot. They rescued the injured workers and immediately shifted them to Dharmanagar District Hospital for treatment.One of the injured has been identified as Nirapad Das (40), who reportedly suffered burns over nearly 80 percent of his body. The other injured person, Bapan Chandra Deb (45), sustained approximately 40 percent burn injuries. Hospital sources stated that both are in critical condition and are being kept under close medical observation.It is worth mentioning that both injured workers are residents of Ward No. 5 of the Kameswar Lalbazar area. As news of the incident spread, local residents gathered at the hospital and prayed for their speedy recovery.
The unfortunate incident has cast a shadow of grief and concern across the locality. Both injured persons are currently undergoing treatment at Dharmanagar District Hospital.
