Dharmanagar, Tripura, 23rd of April 2026 : A major accident occurred near Royal Dhaba in the Krishnapur area of Dharmanagar subdivision, North Tripura, following a sudden spell of heavy rain and strong winds. A large, old tree was uprooted and fell onto the road, crashing onto multiple vehicles that were present at the spot.

According to reports, a Bolero, a Scorpio, and an e-rickshaw were parked on the roadside at the time of the incident. The fallen tree directly struck the Bolero and the e-rickshaw. The Bolero was severely damaged, while the e-rickshaw overturned, leaving several passengers seriously injured.Local residents and eyewitnesses immediately alerted the Dharmanagar Fire Department. Fire personnel rushed to the scene and initiated rescue operations. The injured were promptly rescued and taken to Dharmanagar District Hospital for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Anita Nath, Chandana Nath, Anima Nath, Abhijit Das, Kartik Das, Bijan Nath, and Bishnu Deb. They are residents of Uptakhali, Botorshi, and Chandrapur areas and belong to different age groups.Upon receiving information about the incident, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Devyani Chowdhury visited the site, assessed the situation, and arranged for the immediate removal of the fallen tree from the road. She later visited the hospital to check on the injured and provided financial assistance for their initial treatment. She also stated that further compensation would be arranged after an official inquiry by the tehsildar and other administrative officials.
According to the attending doctor at the hospital, one of the injured is in critical condition, while the others are currently stable.It is also reported that the storm disrupted electricity supply in several parts of Dharmanagar, causing significant inconvenience to residents. Authorities are working to restore normal services at the earliest.
