Dharmanagar, Tripura, 4th of May 2026 : The unnatural death of BJP juva Morcha Mandal President Rahul Kishore Roy in Dharmanagar, North Tripura, has intensified political tensions in the region. The opposition party Congress has strongly reacted to the incident, demanding strict action against those responsible.At a press conference on Tuesday evening, Dharmanagar district Congress leaders expressed deep concern over the incident and alleged that there may have been provocation behind the death. They claimed that the youth leader had been subjected to mental and physical harassment by members of his own party. The Congress leaders demanded that those involved be immediately identified and given exemplary punishment to prevent such incidents in the future.
They also raised concerns about the role of the administration, pointing out that even after nearly 12 hours, no arrests had been made. District Congress President Digvijay Chakraborty stated, “The people of Dharmanagar believe in democracy. Maintaining a peaceful environment here is crucial. But such incidents are putting the democratic atmosphere under serious question.”He further questioned the role of newly elected MLA Jahar Chakraborty, asking what steps he would take in this situation and what had happened to his pre-election promise of maintaining peace in the region.
According to him, the people of Dharmanagar deserve answers.The Congress leadership also sought accountability from the Chief Minister, stating that the government must act more actively to ensure law and order and protect democratic rights. They emphasized that ensuring the safety and peaceful coexistence of Dharmanagar’s residents is the responsibility of the current government.
The press conference was attended by District Congress President Digvijay Chakraborty, Pradesh Congress Committee member Kebel Nandi, and several other Congress leaders and workers.The incident has already triggered intense political speculation. Demands for a fair and impartial investigation are growing louder, and attention is now focused on the steps the administration will take and how quickly the truth behind the incident will emerge.
