Agartala, Tripura, 2nd of June 2026 : With the initiative Tripura Cricket Association organized Distribution Ceremony of Cricket Kits at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala, Tripura on Tuesday (2nd June, 2026).

In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated the Distribution Ceremony by lighting the ceremonial Lamp.
Addressing at the Distribution Ceremony of Cricket Kits Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Sports not only pave the way for personal success but also help in developing a healthy body and a disciplined mind. Through cricket and other sporting activities, we transcend barriers of religion, language, and ethnicity, uniting as proud Indians. Sports participation also nurtures a spirit of unity, teamwork, and national integration.
The Chief Minister, referring to the talent and achievements of world-renowned cricket legends such as Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, and Sachin Tendulkar, said that the younger generation of cricketers should draw inspiration from their dedication, passion for the game, sacrifice, and deep sense of patriotism.

The Chief Minister appreciated this initiative undertaken by the Tripura Cricket Association and the State Bank of India, stating that such collaborations play a vital role in encouraging and advancing the younger generation in the field of sports. He said that the State Government is implementing various initiatives to improve sports infrastructure, including cricket and other sporting disciplines, across the state. These efforts are helping nurture and develop more talented athletes in Tripura.
“The State Government has developed nine synthetic sports grounds over the past eight years and plans to construct two more in the near future. Modern sports infrastructure has already been established at places such as Ganganagar in Dhalai district, Ambassa, Udaipur, and several other locations across the state. To nurture and enhance the talents of young athletes from different parts of Tripura, a 200-bed hostel will be constructed at the Sports School in Badharghat, Agartala. Additionally, two multipurpose indoor halls will be built in Kailashahar and Udaipur.’ Chief Minister added.

“A 30,000-seat spectator gallery will be constructed at Dasarath Deb Stadium in Badharghat, Agartala. To promote the development of sports, the State Government has launched several initiatives under the Chief Minister’s Sports Development Project and the Chief Minister’s Sports Talent Identification and Talent Search Programme.” Chief Minister added.
Highlighting the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha remarked that The Chief Minister also stated that, with the support of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), work is underway to develop an international-standard cricket stadium in Agartala for hosting international cricket tournaments. The State Government’s goal is to ensure that young boys and girls associated with sports in Tripura achieve success across all disciplines and bring glory to themselves as well as to the state. In this regard, the government is committed to providing every possible support.

Chief Minister Dr. Saha also added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also praised young sportspersons in his Mann Ki Baat programme. Through progress in sports and every other sector, efforts are being made to build a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047. Similarly, the State Government is working with dedication towards the vision of building a Viksit Tripura (Developed Tripura).
As part of the event, the Chief Minister distributed 108 cricket kit bags among young cricketers representing schools, coaching academies, sports clubs, and participants of various tournaments organized under the aegis of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Secretary of the Tripura Cricket Association Subrata Dey delivered a welcome address at the Distribution Ceremony of Cricket Kits at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan today. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Debashish Chandra Das, Regional Manager of the State Bank of India, office-bearers of the Tripura Cricket Association and officials of the State Bank of India many other distinguished dignitaries were present in the event.
