Dharmanagar, Tripura, 23rd of June 2026 : Expressing concern over the alleged NEET question paper leak and various issues affecting the country’s education system, the Dharmanagar District Congress Committee organized a press conference at the District Congress Bhavan on Tuesday evening.Among those present were District Congress President Nirupam Dey, Mahila Congress leader Mansi Malakar, District Youth Congress President Jaydeep Nath, City Congress President Bidhan Chandra Deb, along with several party leaders and workers.

During the press conference, Congress leaders alleged that the country’s education system has been witnessing a series of irregularities and instances of corruption, with the NEET question paper leak being one of the most serious examples. They claimed that such incidents put the future of lakhs of students at risk and undermine the credibility of merit-based evaluation. The party also demanded an end to the commercialization of education, greater transparency in the education sector, and proper recognition of merit. District Congress leaders emphasized the need for comprehensive educational reforms, stronger security measures for competitive examinations, and equal educational opportunities for all.According to the speakers, education policy should be kept free from corporate influence and designed to promote research, innovation, and nation-building. They stressed that a transparent and student-friendly education system is essential for the country’s progress.
The leaders further demanded the immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister and the Prime Minister over the NEET paper leak controversy. They stated that the Dharmanagar District Congress would continue its movement in support of students and youth and in pursuit of greater transparency in the education sector.Notably, prior to the press conference, a public meeting was held at the base of the Netaji statue on the banks of Kalidighi. District and block-level Congress leaders criticized various policies of the BJP-led central government and alleged that the NEET paper leak reflected a broader decline in the country’s education system.The gathering was attended by PCC member Kebalkanti Nandi, PCC Vice-President Chayan Bhattacharya, and several leaders and workers from the district, block, and Youth Congress units.
