Unhygienic Conditions Near BBI School Swimming Pool : Dharitri Urges Municipal Intervention.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 29th of June 2026 : National voluntary organization Dharitri has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Executive Officer of the Dharmanagar Municipal Council, seeking immediate action to address the unhygienic conditions caused by open urination and public defecation near the swimming pool of BBI School in North Tripura’s Dharmanagar.In the memorandum, signed by the organization’s district president, Jaydeep Dhar, it is stated that the area adjacent to the swimming pool has, over the past several years, become a spot for open urination and defecation. The absence of adequate monitoring and public toilet facilities has resulted in foul odours and an increasingly unsanitary environment.

The memorandum further notes that the swimming pool is used daily by a large number of students and swimmers. Such unhygienic conditions pose serious health risks, increase the possibility of infections, and create inconvenience for students, teachers, and local residents due to the persistent foul smell. The organization also expressed concern that the deteriorating surroundings are affecting the environment of an important educational institution.To resolve the issue, Dharitri has proposed several measures, including:

Construction of a public urinal or bio-toilet near the site.Installation of “No Urination/No Open Defecation” signboards along with warnings of penalties for violations.

Regular cleaning and disinfection of the area by municipal sanitation workers.The organization’s representatives expressed hope that the Dharmanagar Municipal Council will treat the matter with urgency and take effective steps to restore a clean and healthy environment around the school premises.
