Khowai, Tripura, 19th of July 2026 : With the initiative of Poet Sukanta Bhattacharya Birth Centenary Celebration Committee organized a discussion programme and prize distribution ceremony were organised at Swapnapuri Auditorium in Khowai, Tripura on Saturday (18th July, 2026).
Former Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court, Shubhashis Talapatra, attended at the event as Chief Guest.
The discussion focused on the theme, “Poet Sukanta: The Friend of the Oppressed and Distressed.” The programme was presided over by Sukhendu Bikash Dey, while Arun Pal delivered the welcome address. Khowai MLA Nirmal Biswas was also present at the event.
The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners of various sections of the letter and essay writing competitions were awarded. Eminent personalities from the literary and media fields, including Dipanjan Bhattacharya, Rajib Acharya, Amit Das, and Jahar Lal Das, were honoured in the general category.
