Kumarghat, Tripura,28th of July, 2026 : Public representatives as well as the officials of various departments have to be accountable to the citizens. The state government aims at delivering government scheme benefits to the last person of society, stated the SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das while addressing a review meeting of Kumarghat Block at the BPRC Hall of Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti on Tuesday (28th July, 2026).
The review meeting on various ongoing development projects was also attended by the Sabhadhipati of Unakoti Zila Parishad Amalendu Das, Chairman of Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti Sumati Das, Vice Chairman Shankar Deb, Kumarghat BAC chairman Tapanjoy Reang, Chairman of Kumarghat Primary Marketing Co-operative Society Limited Shibendu Ghosh, members of the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti, Gram Pradhan, executive engineer of the RD department, BDO and other officials.
In the beginning of the meeting, BDO Sushanta Datta informed that VB-G-RAM G scheme started from July 1 across the country. Since then in Kumarghat Block 1,04,253 mandays have been generated. The BDO also shed light on completed and ongoing works like construction of box culvert, steel foot bridge, brick-soling road, RCC drain, Anganwadi Centre building etc. He also discussed e-KYC for job card holders, works under PMAY (rural), PM Jan Man, Swachh Bharat, waste management, works under the Fifteenth Finance Commission, MP Adarsha Gram etc.
Kumarghat BDO also informed that under PMAY (rural) 99.34 per cent work of house construction has been completed during the period from 2016-17 to 2023-24 financial year. For this period the Kumarghat Block had a target of 13,883 houses out of which 13,792 houses have been completed. Under Swachh Bharat Mission toilets have been constructed for 17,143 families.
At the meeting the representative of the RD department also presented updates on their works. The executive engineer of RD department informed that from the 2023-24 financial year to till date 80 per cent work of different construction projects has been completed in different Panchayats.
Speaking on the occasion the SC Welfare Minister said, under VB-G RAM G there is provision for 125 mandays a year at the rate of Rs. 300 per manday wage. To ensure that every beneficiary gets 125 days of work, village level public representative to panchayat secretary, GRS, block administration, all have to work in coordination. For that names should be listed in the Panchayat Action Plan on the basis of which work will be executed. That way man-days will be generated. He said it is not enough to set a target, success will not come until the plan of action is implemented at the village level: He urged all to work together in unison so that Kumarghat Block can eam a place of honour in the state. Chairman of Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti Sumati Das also spoke on the occasion, emphasising sustenance of the track of awards at the national and state level in the coming days as well.
