Dharmanagar’s BBI School Ground Struggles Due To Lack Of Maintenance.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 8th of August, 2026 : The present condition of the ground of the historic BBI School in Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura has deteriorated considerably. Due to a prolonged lack of proper maintenance, the ground has become almost grassless and unsuitable for sporting activities. As a result, regular practice sessions for players are being disrupted, causing widespread disappointment among sports enthusiasts.

Local residents allege that the concerned authorities have failed to take any effective initiative for the maintenance and renovation of the ground for a long time. Once known as a major hub for football, cricket and other sporting competitions, the ground is now covered with dust and has become uneven. Even during the monsoon season, there is hardly any greenery on the ground, clearly reflecting the lack of proper maintenance.

Local players said that it has become difficult to practise regularly in such poor conditions. Many are being forced to travel to other grounds for practice. This, they said, is gradually reducing the interest of both young and senior players, while also dampening enthusiasm for sports among the younger generation.Sports enthusiasts in Dharmanagar believe that the BBI School ground is not merely a school playground but an important part of the area’s sporting heritage.

They stressed the need for immediate renovation, levelling of the ground, planting of grass and regular maintenance.Meanwhile, local residents have urged the concerned authorities to intervene at the earliest. They hope that the administration will take the matter seriously and initiate necessary measures so that the ground can once again become suitable for sporting activities and give a fresh boost to the sporting culture of Dharmanagar.
