Dharmanagar,Tripura, 22nd of September, 2026: Students of Dharmanagar College affiliated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) launched a protest demanding solutions to several problems at Dharmanagar Degree College.During the protest, ABVP students allegedly locked the college from outside, leaving the Principal, BJP leader Barnali Goswami, and several others inside. The incident led to a tense situation on the college premises for some time.The protesting students alleged that outsiders regularly conduct blood donation drives and various other programmes on the college campus.
According to them, such activities disrupt the studies of students who travel to the college from distant areas.The students also claimed that the college has been facing several long-standing problems, including a shortage of teachers and inadequate access to safe and purified drinking water. ABVP representatives said that the issues had been brought to the attention of the college authorities several times, and memorandums had also been submitted demanding solutions. However, they alleged that despite repeated appeals, no permanent solution has been found so far.Following this, the ABVP students, expressing their dissatisfaction, locked the college and began their protest. Their demands include maintaining a proper academic environment, resolving the shortage of teachers and drinking-water problems at the earliest, and taking effective measures to regulate programmes conducted by outsiders inside the college premises.Although the incident created tension on the college campus, the situation was brought under control later.
