Agartala, Tripura, 10th of August, 2026 : On specific information of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) secret operation was launched in Agartala Railway Station Sunday (9th August, 2026). According to the sources, RPF & GRP, arrested two (2) drug peddlers from Agartala Railway Station and seized total of 23.740 Kg Ganja.
According to sources, Tripura Railway Police on Sunday (9th August, 2026) at about 4 PM SI Mangal Debbarma and other Agartala GRPS staff managed to catch two persons namely 1) Sumit Kumar (30), S/O- Sri Krishna Prasad of Raksa Dih, Roksa, PO- Raksa Dih, PS- Karja, District- Muzaffarpur, State- Bihar, and 2) Ajit Kumar Sah (30), S/O- Lt. Upendra Prasad Sah, C/O- Sri Suresh Prasad of Netaji Road, Doom Dooma, PO+PS- Doom Dooma, District-Tinsukia, State- Assam, at Agartala Railway Station on platform no-01in front of Parking area in between RPF Post Agartala and pay & use toilet along with total 23.740 Kg of suspected to be contraband narcotic Ganja in pitthu bags respectively.
The destination market value of NDPS items is approximately to be ₹5 Lakh in black market.
Accordingly GRPS arrested them and seized the contraband Ganja. A specific case vide Agartala GRPS case no-2026GRP054, U/S-20(b)(ii)(C)/29 of NDPS Act-1985 has registered against them.
Interacted with media Inspector Raju Bhowmik, Officer in Charge Agartala Railway Police Station gave details about this today. OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
