Agartala, Tripura, 17th of August, 2026 : The state government wants to keep each and every citizen of the state healthy. With that goal in view, the government aims at ensuring pure drinking water connections for every household. Today addressing a review meeting of Tripura Jal Board, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said this. At the meeting the Chief Minister made enquiries about the quality of water being available in different places. He emphasised taking necessary steps to stop misuse of drinking water. Stressing conservation of the water of 12 small rivers of the state he advised to build small barrages for that.
The Chief Minister instructed the officials to take measures for ensuring supply of iron-free drinking water, besides emphasising continuation of reformative works on a regular basis. He said, sample study should be done regularly to ensure quality maintenance. He said advanced infrastructure should be built to deliver smooth and transparent services to the people. In addition he enquired about ground water treatment plants, surface water treatment plants, water supply system in Agartala and other works of Jal Board.
During the meeting the CEO of Tripura Jal Board Mihir Kanti Gope presented an overview on the ground water, surface water treatment plants, AMRUT 2.0, beautification of water bodies, SCADA technology, robotic and Al application etc. The PWD Secretary Kiran Gitte, urban development Secretary Milind Ramteke, Secretary of GA (P& T) Apurba Roy also briefed the Chief Minister about various activities. Among others, Commissioner of AMC Saju Vaheed A., and other officials of the PWD (DWS) and Tripura Jal Board were present.
