Teliamura, Tripura, 5th of September, 2026 : With the Village Committee (VC) elections approaching, nomination filing intensified at Mungiakami Block on Saturday. Candidates from approximately seven of the 14 Village Committees submitted their nomination papers on Saturday (5th September, 2026).
Under the leadership of MDC Utpal Debbarma, Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) Motha party candidates from the 11 Maharani constituency submitted their nomination papers to the BDO cum Returning Officer at Mungiakami Block. Party leaders, workers and supporters accompanied the candidates during the filing.
After submitting the nomination papers, MDC Utpal Debbarma said that on Saturday, nominations were filed for around 50% of the 14 Village Committees under Mungiakami Block. He added that the nomination papers for candidates of the remaining Village Committees would be submitted next Monday.
Preparations for the upcoming Village Committee elections are gaining momentum, with political parties and local groups becoming increasingly active. The pace of campaigning is expected to increase following the completion of the nomination process.
