Sonamura, Tripura, 13th of September, 2026 : On the basis of secret information Sepahijala District Police, in joint operations with BSF, TSR battalions, Forest officials and other agencies, carried out a massive crackdown on illicit Ganja (cannabis) cultivation on Sunday (13th September, 2026) from the 0820 Hrs to 1130 Hrs at various locations of the district.
A large-scale destruction operation was conducted under Sonamura Police Station leading by Inspector Tapas Das, Officer-In-Charge of Sonamura Police Station covering searched at Mainamura, Anandapur , Ghatighar, Baga Lunga area & found total 14 no,s Ganja nursery beds where found approx 1,40,000/- ganja sampling & destroy on spot after observing all legal formalities support from 81 BN BSF, 11th BN TSR and other sister agencies.

Interacted with media Inspector Tapas Das, Officer in Charge Sonamura Police Station gave details about this matter. OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
