Grand Celebration Of Hindi Pakhwada Held. 

Amarpur, Tripura, 25th of September 2026 : A grand Hindi Pakhwada celebration was organized on 24 September 2026 by the Department of Hindi, Government Degree College, Khumulwng, in collaboration with Bharatiya Bhasha Manch, Tripura Prant. The programme aimed to promote Hindi language and literature among students while highlighting the importance of India’s rich linguistic and cultural diversity. The event began with a warm welcome and felicitation of the invited guests, followed by the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

Students of the Department of Hindi presented a welcome song, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere. Dr. Maharani Hrangkhawl, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Hindi, delivered the welcome address. She highlighted the importance of Hindi as a simple, accessible and widely spoken language that helps connect people from different regions and communities of India. She also emphasised the need to preserve and promote Kokborok, Hrangkhawl and other local, tribal and minority languages. In her speech she said that every language carries the history, culture, traditions and identity of its people. Respect for Hindi, therefore, should go hand in hand with respect for India’s linguistic diversity. She encouraged students to develop love and respect for all Indian languages while strengthening their connection with Hindi language and literature. Chief Guest: Dr. Kalicharan Jha, Professor, Department of Hindi, Tripura University, addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of Hindi language and literature. He encouraged students to develop a deeper interest in Hindi studies and to explore India’s rich literary and cultural traditions.

Guest of Honour: Dr. Pradip Debbarma, T.C. Secretary, Government Degree College, Khumulwng, emphasised the importance of respecting all Indian languages and noted that India’s linguistic diversity is an important part of its cultural heritage. Dr. Alok, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Tripura University, spoke about the contemporary relevance of Hindi and its importance in education, literature, communication and society. Dr. Bhupendra Debbarma, Principal-in-Charge, Government Degree College, Khumulwng, presided over the programme. He appreciated the efforts of the Department of Hindi and encouraged students to develop a sustained interest in language, literature and cultural studies. Sara Debbarma delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the chief guest, invited guests, Principal-in-Charge, faculty members, students and everyone who contributed to the successful organization of the programme.

The programme was anchored by Manju Hrangkhawl and Sara Debbarma, who conducted the proceedings smoothly and effectively. The Hindi Pakhwada celebration provided an important platform for students to express their enthusiasm for Hindi while also promoting mutual respect among Hindi, Kokborok, Hrangkhawl and other Indian and local languages. The programme conveyed a meaningful message of linguistic harmony, cultural diversity and national unity.
