Khowai, 28th of March, 2024 : With the initiative of Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI(M) and Ganamukti Parishad (GMP) Khowai committee on Thursday (28th March, 2024) celebrated Kumari-Madhuti-Rupashree Martyrdom Day at Padmabill and CPI(M) Subdivision office, Khowai.
The tragic incident was followed by the Royal Army gunning down three tribal women. Three tribal women namely Kumari, Madhuti and Rupashree at Padmabill, Khowai, in March 1949. The women were protesting against the ‘Titun System’ (providing labor to the king without wages).
Leader of GMP Ranjit Debbarma paid respect to the Martys. CPI(M) Khowai Subdivision secretary Padma Kumar Debbarma, and family members of the martyrs were present.
Besides, Kumari-Madhuti-Rupashree Martyrdom Day also celebrated at the CPIM Subdivision office, Khowai today. MLA Nirmal Biswas, DYFI State Secretary Palash Bhowmik and others leaders were present in the event. Activists of CPIM and GMP paid floral respect to the martys.
