Agartala, Tripura, 10th of January, 2026 : The Fish Festival organized at Kamalpur from 7–8 January 2026 emerged as a vibrant platform for showcasing the initiatives of the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), a World Bank–funded project aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods through scientific and sustainable practices.

During the festival, the TRESP Dhalai District team actively participated by setting up an information and publicity stall, highlighting the project’s support to Producer Group (PG) members engaged in fish farming. TRESP is assisting pond-owning PG members through hands-on guidance in scientific fish farming techniques, enabling them to enhance productivity, improve quality, and strengthen market linkages. In addition, the project extends financial assistance through loans at a highly competitive interest rate of 3%, encouraging farmers to adopt modern and sustainable practices.

Project officials, including DM Fishery Shri Sankar Majumder, CC Fishery Junnoti Kalai, Ganganagar, and TSA Fishery Shri Dabanjan Sinha, played an active role in interacting with the general public and farming groups, effectively publicizing TRESP’s objectives and on-ground interventions.

The TRESP publicity stall was formally inaugurated by Shri Sudhanshu Das and Smt. Susmita Das, Jela Sabhadhipati, marking an important moment for the project’s outreach efforts. The presence and participation of TRESP generated immense enthusiasm among visitors, particularly regarding scientific fish farming methods and the inclusive, community-driven approach adopted under the World Bank–funded project.

Simultaneously, the TRESP Khowai District team also participated in a fish festival organized by the Fisheries Department, where they showcased ongoing project activities, further strengthening TRESP’s visibility and outreach across districts.

Through such IEC (Information, Education and Communication) interventions, TRESP continues to motivate and encourage tribal women in ADC areas to actively participate in producer groups and livelihood activities. These efforts are significantly contributing to socio-economic development, empowerment, and sustainable income generation among tribal communities. The growing public interest and positive response at these festivals reflect TRESP’s increasing visibility and its impactful role in transforming rural livelihoods through knowledge, finance, and community engagement.
