Ampi, Tripura, 10th of January 2026 : In response to the prevailing emergency situation and the extreme cold weather affecting vulnerable communities in Tripura, the Tipra Academician Forum (TAF) organized a social outreach program on 9th January 2026 to support poor and needy families. TAF is an association of academicians from Tripura who are currently serving in different General Degree Colleges across the state and are committed to social responsibility alongside academic excellence.

As part of this humanitarian initiative, TAF members distributed winter blankets, warm clothes, and educational materials to economically disadvantaged families of Rutukrai Para and Athambaigo Para under the Amarpur R.D. Block. The program aimed to provide immediate relief to families struggling to cope with the harsh winter conditions. The distribution drive witnessed the collective participation of TAF members, reflecting unity and compassion within the academic fraternity. Dr. Abhijit Debbarma, President of TAF, Dr. Anuradha Jamatia, Vice President, Dr. Madhusudha Murasing, General Secretary, Mr. Daniel Debbarma, Organizing Secretary, along with Dr. Lily Debbarma, Dr. Dinah Debbarma, Dr. Maria Debbarma, Mrs. Pusparwng Hrangkhawl, and Mr. Hamani Bhagya Jamatia were present during the program and actively engaged in the distribution process. The identification of beneficiaries and coordination at the grassroots level were made possible with the support of the family of Mr. Shanti Bongcher, whose assistance ensured that the aid reached the most deserving households. In total, 50 families received new winter blankets to help them withstand the cold.

Additionally, children from these families were provided with essential reading and writing materials, including notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, and color pencils, to encourage continuity in their education. Through this initiative, the Tipra Academician Forum reaffirmed its commitment to community welfare and pledged to continue similar outreach programs in the future for the betterment of society.
