Dharmanagar Tripura, 25th of January, 2026 :A joint convention of Left parties was held in Dharmanagar on Sunday at 12 noon in support of the nationwide strike scheduled for February 12. The convention was organised to demand the repeal of anti-worker labour codes, resumption of MGNREGA, protection of farmers’ rights, and withdrawal of increased electricity bills.The convention was presided over by MLA Islam Uddin. Leaders from CPI(M), CPIML, CITU, United Trade Congress, farmers’, women’s, youth, pensioners’ and employees’ organisations addressed the gathering.

The chief speaker, Amitabh Dutta, criticised both the central and state governments, alleging erosion of democracy, unemployment among youth, injustice to farmers, and the absence of rule of law. He demanded minimum support price for farmers and accused the government of favouring big corporates through labour codes.He called upon people to unite, reach out to the masses, and make the February 12 strike a success to protect workers’ rights and save the Constitution.
