Dharmanagar Tripura, 25th of January, 2026 : A vibrant winter sports festival was held at Krishnapur Gram Panchayat, marked by enthusiastic participation from children and adolescents and inaugurated by the local (MLA). The day-long sporting event took place on the field beside the residence of Motabur Rahman in the Krishnapur area.The programme was inaugurated by the Hon’ble MLA of Yubarajnagar Assembly Constituency, Shailendra Chandra Nath. The event was presided over by Md. Amiruzzaman Rahman, former teacher, while Mohammad Moktabur Rahman served as the convener. The festival was jointly organised by the Krishnapur and Dupirbond Sports Development Committees.The all-day programme featured a variety of sports and cultural activities, including the cricket final, volleyball matches, running competitions, dance performances, and several events specially designed for children and adolescents. The spontaneous participation of local youth and children turned the event into a colourful celebration, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the day.
Addressing at the event, MLA Shailendra Chandra Nath said, “Sports are not merely a form of physical exercise; they are one of the most important tools for character building. Discipline, tolerance, team spirit, and leadership qualities are developed through sports. To keep the next generation away from drugs and social degradation, there is no alternative to sports.”Addressing the players, he further added, “Victory or defeat is not the ultimate goal. Honesty, discipline, and perseverance define a true sportsperson. Alongside academics, equal importance must be given to sports.”At the conclusion of the programme, prizes were distributed among the winners.
