A MoU Signing Programme On Strengthening Of Cooperative Dairy Sector In Tripura.

Agartala, Tripura, 23rd of June 2026 : A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing programme on strengthening of Cooperative Dairy Sector in Tripura at Civil Secretariat, Agartala, Tripura on Tuesday (23rd June, 2026) .  

The State Government is working on various initiatives to increase milk production. At the same time, it is implementing several schemes to make livestock rearers financially and socially self-reliant Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha made these remarks today at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony held in Conference Hall No. 2 of the Secretariat.

The event was organized to promote and strengthen Tripura’s cooperative dairy sector. In the presence of the Chief Minister, an MoU was signed between the State Government’s Animal Resources Development Department, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and the Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited. The primary objective of the agreement is to formulate and implement a Comprehensive Cooperative Dairy Development Plan (CCDDP) in the state, aligned with the national goal of “White Revolution 2.0.” The MoU was signed by Deepa D. Nair, Secretary, Animal Resources Development Department, on behalf of the Government of Tripura; Dr Sabyasachi Roy, Regional Head (Northeast), NDDB, on behalf of the Board, and Ratan Ghosh, Chairman, Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited, on behalf of the Union.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Gujarat has become a remarkable model for the country in the production of milk and dairy products. He expressed hope that Tripura would also earn recognition in this field and secure a special place on the national map. He emphasized that the dairy industry can significantly contribute to increasing the income of farmers and livestock rearers while strengthening the rural economy. He further expressed his desire for the emergence of a dairy movement in Tripura that would eventually gain appreciation across the country. The Chief Minister added that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura is making progress in all sectors

Addressing on the occasion, Animal Resources Development, Fisheries, and Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das described the day as highly significant for the state. He said that the MoU would not only help increase milk production In Tripura and create a foundation for sustainable development, but would also open new avenues for the socio-economic advancement of livestock rearers. He noted that milk production in the state is steadily increasing and that the government has taken various measures to further boost production.

Cooperation Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, stated that since the current government assumed office, positive changes have taken place in the state’s cooperative institutions. The government is working tirelessly to bring the cooperative movement closer to the people. He added that cooperatives have an important role to play in building a “Viksit Bharat” and that the government is committed to strengthening this sector further.

The Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board, Dr. Meenesh Shah, and the Chairman of Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited, Ratan Ghosh, also spoke on various initiatives aimed at the development of Tripura’s dairy industry, expansion of cooperative-based production, market growth, and the welfare of livestock rearers. The event was also attended by Tapas Roy, Secretary, Cooperation Department, Dr. Neeraj Kumar Chanchal, Director, Animal Resources Development Department, senior officials of the concerned departments, representatives of the NDDB and members of the Board of Directors of Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited.
