Allegations Of Negligence Against Chebri Postmaster As Post Office Closes Before Scheduled Hours.

Khowai, Tripura, 4th of November, 2026 : Customers in Chebri have raised serious concerns over the functioning of their local post office in Khowai Subdivision. According to residents, the post office is not adhering to its designated opening and closing hours, leaving people struggling to complete their essential postal work.

According to local customers, the post office is supposed to remain open daily from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm as per the prescribed schedule. However, they allege that the office is being operated arbitrarily, disregarding the official timings. Customers further claim that the post office is being closed as early as 4:00 pm every day, causing considerable inconvenience to those seeking postal services.

Several allegations have also been levelled against the woman official in charge of the post office. According to customers, she reportedly arrives at the office around 11:00 am every day and leaves between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. As a result, ordinary customers have been facing considerable difficulties for a long time, particularly those who visit the post office in the afternoon to complete essential work but are unable to access the required services.

Meanwhile, following complaints and protests by customers, another employee reportedly opened the post office at around 4:45 pm today, nearly an hour later than expected.

Questions are now being raised over how ordinary people can access postal services if the post office fails to operate within its officially prescribed hours. Why should customers be forced to make repeated visits to the post office and face unnecessary harassment simply to complete their essential work?

Local residents are now demanding that senior postal department authorities take the matter seriously, conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations, verify their authenticity and take appropriate action accordingly.
