Amarpur, Tripura, 24th of August 2026 : With the initiative of Ampi Nagar Congress organization 43rd TTAADC foundation day celebration 2026 was conducted here in Holua Para under Ampi Nagar block, Amarpur in Gomati Tripura on Sunday (23rd August, 2026).
On this occasion a large number of Congress leaders of the block and local supporters have assembled here in the programme and took active participation in the event. In presence of many dignitaries Ampi block Congress president Pintu Debbarma inaugurated the event with lighting the candle. The dignitaries have given garland and flowers to the portrait of former prime minister Indira Gandhi with due respect and dignity. As per the report, TTAADC foundation day is celebrated on August 23rd in every year with most significantly. The TTAADC foundation day marks the historic 1984 enactment of the 49th Constitutional Amendment, which brought the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. It symbolizes indigenous self-governance, cultural preservation, and the protection of land rights for the indigenous people.
On August 23, 1984, the Indian Parliament passed the amendment to extend Sixth Schedule status to the council, vastly strengthening its legislative and administrative autonomy. It honors decades of democratic movements and sacrifices made by indigenous leaders and local groups demanding constitutional safeguards against demographic and socio-economic marginalization.
Empowers tribal communities to manage their internal affairs, local administration, and traditional justice systems through elected representatives. Serves as a vital institutional shield to preserve native languages, customs, traditional practices, and heritage. Amidst the distinguished programme participants there were Tarzan Kalai, GS, Sanjit Kalai, senior leader, Haradhan Das, Amarpur block president, Ripan Das, S.C president, Pranoy Chakraborty, Ampi youth working president and many others remained present in the celebration.
