Sabroom, Tripura, 22nd of November, 2024 : The auto driver demanded to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sabroom withdraw of decision. According to the information received, Yesterday, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sabroom called the leaders of the auto stand to an emergency meeting in the presence of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate , Sub-Divisional Police Officer and the OC of the police station and handed over a copy of an order.It states that from December 1st, there will be E-Rickshaw without permits at the Sabroom Auto Stand and they will services on various routes from there. In this meeting held in the SDM’s office, the members present on behalf of the Sabroom Auto Stand opposed this decision and demanded its withdrawal.
But Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sabroom Shibajyoti Dutta clearly informed the leaders present that this order will be effective from December 1st and all kinds of administrative cooperation will be provided for this. Because a large part of the auto stands remain empty. But the auto stand leaders present in the meeting requested the SDM, SDPO and other administrative officials to visit the auto stands on the ground.
Auto driver Ajoy Singh said to media persons that the number of autos that are filled at this auto stand is around 400 to 450, it is impossible to accommodate such a number of autos in the current space of the stand. Moreover, if E-Rickshaw also service on various routes from this stand, then the business of auto drivers will suffer a huge loss. He also demanded that if E-Rickshaw are plying on different routes from this auto stand despite not having any permits, then the permit system for petrol-powered auto rickshaws should also be lifted. The auto drivers further informed that if this decision is not withdrawn immediately, they will go on a larger agitation.
