‘Bizu Rong Dhong’ Initiated By Chakma Youth Cultural Forum

Agartala, 5th of May, 2024 : With the initiative of Chakma Youth Cultural Forum ‘Bizu Rong Dhong’ (A Colourful Cultural Evening) has been organized at Agartala Town Hall on Sunday (5th May, 2024). In the presence of many dignitaries Padma Shri awardee Smriti Rekha Chakma and senior journalist Srot Ranjan Khisa has inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Biju festival is one of the main and traditional festivals of Chakma community. The festival lasts for a total of three days, including the last two days of Chaitra of the Bengali year and the first day of the new year, Baisakh. On this occasion, state wise Biju fair is organized every year in Chakma areas in the state. This year the state level Biju Fair was held in Machmara area under Kanchanpur subdivision. Chakma Youth Cultural Forum artists performed Biju song at the opening ceremony. Eminent guests participated in the event and discussed the context of Biju Rang Dhang celebration. On the occasion, Sroth Ranjan Khisa, Smriti Rekha Chakma and Kakali Chakma were felicitated by the Chakma Youth Cultural Forum. The childrens presented their different kinds of traditional cultural programmes on the occasion.

Amidst the other distinguished participants of the programme there were President of Tripura State Chakma Parishad Debjan Chakma, retired IAS officer TK Chakma, eminent Social activist Bimal Chakma, eminent Social activist Yogamaya Chakma, eminent Social activist Kakali Chakma, many other dignitaries were present in the event.
