Agartala, Tripura, 2nd of January, 2025 : With The Initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura 43rd Agartala Book Fair 2025 has been organized at the International Fair Ground, Hapania on Thursday (2nd January, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated the 43rd Agartala Book Fair 2025 by lighting the ceremonial Lamp.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of 43rd Agartala Book Fair 2025 Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said, Books expand the boundaries of consciousness. The self-satisfaction that comes from the smell of a new book is not found anywhere else. Therefore, the next generation must be attracted to reading books. For this, parents must take more responsibility. The Chief Minister said that the people of the state wait for the book fair all year round. Considering the exams of the students, it has been decided to bring forward the book fair this year. He said that earlier, there was a practice of giving away books on various occasions. This habit should be brought back. We all have to make reading books a habit. He said, Book Fair is a festival of intellect and contemplation. Books are the basis of acquiring knowledge. Book Fair is being organized every year in our state under the patronage of the government. It is worth mentioning that the 13-day long 43rd Agartala Book Fair will continue till January 14. There are 178 stalls in this year’s book fair. Out of these, 42 stalls are from outside the State.

“Free bus service has also been arranged so that everyone can come to the book fair. The number of books sold at the Agartala Book Fair is increasing every year. The number of publishers, sellers and stalls is also increasing. This shows that the Agartala Book Fair is growing day by day. That is why we are proud of the Agartala Book Fair.” Chief Minister also added.
This year too, arrangements have been made for the book fair to include the launch of new books, discussion sessions, quizzes, poet conferences, etc. The main theme of the book fair this year is “Sarveshaam Santirbhavatu”, which means that peace should be bestowed upon everyone. The Chief Minister urged everyone to read books, teach books and increase knowledge. Inaugurating the book fair, the Chief Minister formally inaugurated the book fair’s souvenir and the theme collection of Bangli and Kokborok on the main theme of the book fair.

The 13-day book fair 2nd January 2025 & continue till January 14, 2025. The theme for this year’s 43rd Agartala Book Fair-2025 is“Sarveshaam Santirbhavatu”. Book fair will be open daily from 2.30 pm to 9 pm and holidays open from 2 pm to 9.30 pm. Cultural programs have been organized daily to the fair premises as in other years.

Secretary of Information and Culture Department Dr. P. K. Chakraborty delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. He said that the book fair also has a special contribution to the practice of literature in the state. This year’s book fair has been brought forward to January keeping in mind the students. He wished the Agartala Book Fair all-round success.
