Brinjal Cultivation Success Under TRESP Project In Laljuri Block Project Management Unit.

Agartala, Tripura, 19th of May, 2026 : Laljuri R.D. Block in Tripura has emerged as a model of rural livelihood transformation, as a Producer Group under the World Bank–supported TRESP (Tripura Rural Economic Growth & Service Delivery Project), implemented by the Tribal Welfare Department, has achieved significant success through brinjal cultivation.

The Rajashree Producer Group, formed under the project, adopted collective farming and modern agricultural practices to cultivate brinjal across 1.8 hectares (9.95 kani) of land. Their efforts resulted in an impressive production of 20,262 kg. Through organized marketing and teamwork, the group generated total sales of ₹4,45,764 and earned a net profit of ₹3,23,600, substantially improving the financial condition of its members.

Among the group, Smt. Jannabi Debnath emerged as the top performer. With financial assistance of ₹13,573 under TRESP, she undertook brinjal cultivation under the technical guidance and supervision of Sri Dipankar Biswas, CC-Agriculture, BPMU-Laljuri. Through effective crop management and dedicated efforts, she produced 2,330 kg of brinjal within just four months, earning a profit of ₹37,592.

During a recent field visit, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of North Tripura, Sri Bijoy Sinha, interacted with the Producer Group members and appreciated their dedication and achievements. He encouraged them to continue agricultural activities for sustainable livelihood development and assured continued administrative support for strengthening farming practices and improving market linkages. He also reviewed the progress of TRESP interventions in Laljuri Block and emphasized the importance of effective implementation to achieve long-term livelihood outcomes.

The success story highlights the positive impact of the World Bank–funded initiative in empowering rural communities, particularly women in tribal areas. Members of the group expressed that with timely financial assistance, technical support, and collective action, it is possible to enhance income, improve productivity, and ensure sustainable development.
