Brown Sugar Seized From Abandoned Scorpio In Dharmanagar, Investigation Underway.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 9th of June 2026 : Police in North Tripura’s Dharmanagar have achieved a significant breakthrough in their anti-drug operations.Acting on a tip-off, police recovered approximately 12 grams of brown sugar from an abandoned Scorpio vehicle, creating a stir in the area.

According to police sources, late on Saturday night, information was received about drug trafficking in a Scorpio bearing registration number AS-04-R-4549, which was travelling from Kadamtala towards Dharmanagar. Based on the information, a team from Dharmanagar Police Station conducted an operation near the Bharat Petroleum petrol pump at Paschim Botorsi.Upon reaching the spot, police found the vehicle abandoned on the roadside. The key was still in the ignition, while the front windshield and the driver’s side window were found broken. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver or those involved fled the scene after sensing the presence of the police.

During a search of the vehicle, police recovered around 12 grams of brown sugar concealed inside a packet. Considering the seriousness of the case, a forensic team was called in. Forensic Examiner Lincoln Reang, along with several senior police officials, visited the scene and supervised the investigation.Police also stated that a scarf belonging to a political party was found inside the vehicle. However, it has not yet been established whether it has any direct connection to the drug trafficking case, and the matter remains under investigation.

After the forensic examination, the Scorpio was seized and taken to Dharmanagar Police Station. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is underway. Police are intensifying efforts to identify the vehicle owner, driver, and others involved in the alleged drug trafficking network.
