During ‘Anti-Narcotics Drives’ in the Tripura State, BSF is regularly conducting ‘Special Operations’ and succeeded in neutralizing the nefarious designs of Trans-border smugglers, particularly indulged in Narcotics drugs trafficking. In series of such Operations, BSF troops succeeded in seizing 513 Kgs Ganja and other contraband items having combined value of Rs. 78,91,831/- in different operations on 30 April 2021.
On 30th April 2021, a specific Intelligence input was received regarding stocking of huge consignment of Dry Ganja in general area of Village- Batadola, PS- Sonamura & Village- Nutan Colony, PS- Kalamchera, both under Sub-Division Sonamura, Distt- Sepahijala, Tripura. Acting on the above tip-off, a joint operation was launched by BSF Intelligence Team Gokulnagar alongwith troops of 74 Bn BSF and DRI Agartala to recover the above Ganja consignments. During thorough search of the target areas, the joint operation party recovered 16 plastic drums containing “488 Kgs Dry Ganja along with 25 Kgs Ganja Dust” from aforesaid locations, which was clandestinely hidden under ground in the adjoining forest areas. The seized Ganja was handed over to DRI Agartala for further legal action.
Besides above, on the intervening night of 30 April / 01 May 2021, troops of BSF Tripura also foiled the trans-border smuggling bids and seized 08 Cattle, besides other assorted contraband items having collective market value of Rs. 04,96,831/-.
BSF is fully committed to contribute in making “Tripura – A Drug Free State” by eradicating the menace of narcotics drugs from the State in co-ordination with other law enforcement sister agencies.
