Sabroom, Tripura, 28th of June, 2025 : On 28th June, 2025, at about 8 am, , a joint team of BSF and police conducted a raid based on specific intelligence in Durgabari area of Ward No. 2 of Krishnanagar area ,Srinagar, Sabroom sub-division under South Tripura district and recovered a huge quantity of banned narcotics. According to report, 231 bottles Phensedyl and approximately 16 kg Cannabis (Ganja), market value is around 1.5 lakh were recovered during the raid.

The operation was led by Sabroom Sub-divisional Police Officer Nittyananda Sarkar, Manu Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sanjib Debbarma, BSF 121 Battalion Karimatila BOP Commandant VK Singh, and Deputy Collectors of Sabroom Subdivision Jayshankar Das and Manajit Debbarma. After receiving the information of the incident, BSF 121 Battalion Deputy Commandant Raji Alam rushed to the scene.

According to local sources, the accused, Nidan Debnath (55), S/O of Chittaranjan Debnath, had stored Phensedyl and Cannabis in his residence for smuggling to Bangladesh. Sensing the presence of the police, the accused fled the scene, and a search is underway for him. Sabroom Sub-divisional Police Officer Nittyananda Sarkar gave details about this today
