Celebration of National Doctors Day-2025 at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala.

Agartala, Tripura, 1st of July, 2025 : With the initiative of Health and Family Welfare Department Government of Tripura organized National Doctors Day-2025 celebration ceremony at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala, Tripura on Tuesday (1st July, 2025). In the In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the events.

Addressing at the celebration of ceremony of National Doctors Day-2025 Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the State Government is committed to providing improved health services to the people of the State. For this purpose, initiatives have been taken to develop health infrastructure at every subdivision and district level of the state, as well as to build super specialty hospitals. Through the development of health infrastructure, a plan has been taken to develop the state as a health hub in the future.

Highlighting the momentous occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha remarked that remembered Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy and said, today is the birth and death anniversary of Bidhan Chandra Roy. This day is a special day for doctors. Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy has served in various fields of society including politics along with medical services. He was the architect of modern West Bengal. The Chief Minister called upon the present doctors to provide service to the society by learning from his responsibility towards the society.

The Chief Minister said that the state’s health services are at a crossroads of development today. Currently, surgeries like kidney transplants are being performed in the state. Initiatives are also being taken to provide liver transplant services. A doctor always strives to make people healthy. Therefore, the common people who come for medical services should show trust and respect to the doctors. Such doctors also need to develop a good relationship with the patients with a sensitive attitude. Only then will the significance of this main idea of ​​​​today’s day come.

The Chief Minister also added that arrangements have been made to provide food to the companions of patients coming to GB Hospital from different parts of the state for Rs 10. There are 400 seats in medical colleges at the Government and private levels in the state. In addition, a nursing college with 50 seats and a dental college with 63 seats have been established in the State. Currently, trauma centers have been started in Gomati, Dhalai and South Tripura districts of the state. Talking about various projects in health services, he said that so far, over 15 lakh people in the State have received Ayushman Cards under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, and people have benefited from it by receiving assistance of Rs 239 crore. Similarly, people have received assistance of Rs 17 crore under the Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyan (MMJAA). The Chief Minister said that under the PM Divine project, Rs 202 crore has been allocated for Agartala Dental College, Rs 192 crore for setting up a 200-bed mother and child health department at GB Hospital. At the event, the Chief Minister felicitated 15 doctors for their special contribution to the state’s medical services. She also unveiled a souvenir on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day.

Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Family Welfare & Preventive Medicine delivered a welcome address at the inaugural session of National Doctors Day. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there were Additional Secretary of the Health & Family Welfare Department Rajib Datta, Director of Health Education Department Dr. H. P. Sharma, Principal of Agartala Government Dental College, Shalu Rai and may other distinguished dignitaries were present at the celebration ceremony.
