Celebration of World Sports Journalists Day Ceremony At Agartala Press Club.

Agartala, Tripura, 2nd of July, 2025 : With the initiative of Agartala Press Club organized a One-day workshop for sports journalists on the occasion of World Sports Journalists Day at Agartala Press Club, Agartala, Tripura on Wednesday (2nd July, 2025). In the In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated a one-day workshop for sports journalists.

Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of One-day workshop for sports journalists Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that skill development is very necessary to achieve maximum success in any profession. Keeping that in mind, such skill development workshops are timely. It is possible to bring about a huge change in journalism today by using technology. The Chief Minister said that if there is goodwill, it is possible to overcome any obstacle and succeed. But in that case, the right direction is also needed. It is worth noting that this workshop was organized by the Tripura Sports Journalist Club. The Department of Information and Culture is supporting it. Eminent sports journalist Gautam Bhattacharya of Kolkata will train the sports journalists participating in the workshop. On behalf of the organizers, the Chief Minister welcomed Gautam Bhattacharya.

Addressing at the event Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports Minister Tinku Roy said that  that only those who are interested in sports join this profession. After 2018, extensive initiatives have been taken to develop the sports infrastructure of the state. He said that so far, the infrastructure of 50 playgrounds in the state has been developed. On the advice of the Chief Minister, various sports infrastructures are being named after prominent sportsmen of the State. Tripura Sports Development Scheme and Tripura State Talent Search Programme have been launched to provide financial and other facilities to the players. Insurance has been arranged for the players. The Sports Minister expressed hope that in the coming days, many more players from State will participate in international events like the Olympics.

President Agartala Press Club Pranab Sarkar delivered the welcome address at the inaugural session of a One-day workshop for sports journalists on the occasion of World Sports Journalists Day. Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Secretary of Information & Cultural Affairs Department, Pradeep Kumar Chakravarty, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Vice President of Agartala Press Club Chitra Roy, Secretary of Agartala Press Club Ramakanta Dey, other members of Agartala Press Club and journalists were present at the event.
