Dharmanagar, Tripura, 17th of March, 2026 : Despite heavy rainfall, the traditional festival “Chapchar Kut” was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Hmumpui Village in the Jampui Hills of North Tripura district. The state-level event was graced by the District Magistrate of North Tripura, Chandni Chandran, IAS. Other dignitaries present included Debabrata Roy and Information & Cultural Affairs official Ripon Chakma.The presence of distinguished guests added prestige to the occasion. Even amid intense rain, the enthusiasm of the local people remained undiminished. The event came alive with vibrant performances of traditional dance, music, and cultural displays.

The organizers, especially the Young Mizo Association (YMA), were highly appreciated for successfully conducting the despite challenging weather conditions. The guests praised their efforts in ensuring the smooth execution of the programme.Chapchar Kut remains an integral part of the cultural heritage of the Jampui Hills, bringing together local communities in a vibrant celebration every year.
