Agartala, 20 January 2024 : Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated the 1st Gita Rani Smriti Open Prize Money Volleyball Competition at A.D Nagar H.S School ground, Agartala on Saturday (20th January, 2024). “The physical and mental development of people through sports is not possible in any other medium. The present Government of the State has given special attention to the development of sports”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the 1st Gita Rani Smriti Open Prize Money Volleyball Competition inaugural ceremony.
The Chief Minister also added that various steps have been taken to develop the sports infrastructure. The Khelo Tripura programme has been launched by the State Government in accordance with the Khelo India programme of the Central Government. Increased importance placed on sports for youth development help in employment. All the steps taken to develop the sport are bearing fruit. Tripura is now doing well in the sports arena. Players of Tripura have won accolades in various events at the all India level.
Alok Roy, Corporator of Ward No. 39 of Municipal Corporation delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder, Social activist Sanjoy Saha and many other dignitaries were present at the inauguration ceremony.
