Agartala, Tripura, 28th of June, 2025 : With the initiative of State Government of Tripura inaugural ceremony of Cyber Crime Police Station programme has been organized at Dropgate, AD Nagar, Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (28th June, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated by cutting the ribbon today.

Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of Cyber Crime Police Station Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Cyber Crime is one of the prominent issue in these days. Many people in the State have lost their lives due to Cyber Crime. It has become necessary to bring changes in the working methods of the security forces to protect the common people from such crimes.

The Chief Minister said that the security forces have to fight against a kind of shadow in Cyber Crime. In this case, it is very difficult to identify the criminals. Therefore, there is a need for high-level training of security forces officers and other personnel in investigating such crimes. Many of the security department personnel have already been trained in this regard from outside the state. The Chief Minister said that there are good sides as well as bad sides of using technology. Cyber criminals are using technology in negative ways.

Highlighting on the event, the Chief Minister remarked that Cyber criminals want to use the State as a corridor. Therefore, the Defence Department must deal with these criminals consciously and firmly. The Chief Minister urged the victims of cyber crimes to immediately seek police help. In this regard, she emphasized the importance of reporting Cyber Crime on the toll-free number 112 or 1930. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to take the country forward through modern technology. The State Government is also working in that direction. The Chief Minister expressed hope that this Cyber Crime Police Station will be able to gain the trust of the common people by leaving an impression of efficiency.

The State’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag said that Cyber Crime is increasing day by day in the present world. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, emphasis has been given to modernizing the State’s security administration. As a result, the crime rate has decreased by 20 percent in 2024 compared to 2023. So far, the State has been able to recover about 5 crore 46 lakh rupees through cyber security measures. After completing all legal procedures, 32 lakh rupees have been handed over to the victims of Cyber Crime so far.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Home Secretary Abhishek Singh, M. Raja Murugan, Additional Director General of Police (Training & Administration), senior police officers, officials many other dignitaries were present at the event.
