Agartala, Tripura, 22nd of February, 2025 : With the initiative of TAX organization Finance Department Government of Tripura GST Jaagrookta Abhiyan at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (22nd February, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has launched GST Jaagrookta Abhiyan by lighting the ceremonial Lamp.

“Since the introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST), the people of the country have been benefiting directly and indirectly. GST collection has been continuously increasing in the state since the financial year 2017-18. In the financial year 2023-24, GST collection has reached over Tk 510 crore. At the same time, the integrated GST settlement has also crossed Tk 1,000 crore. This has been possible due to the effective policies of the government, efficient administration and technological advancements.”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said at the launching ceremony of GST Jaagrookta Abhiyan.

“The State Government has taken several initiatives to increase revenue and ensure an effective and equitable tax system. As part of this, Tripura Road Development Cess was introduced in August 2018, which is playing an important role in increasing the revenue of the State. The amount collected from this Cess in the financial year 2018-19 was Rs 27.75 crore, which increased to Rs 374.52 crore in the financial year 2023-24. Also, Tripura Electricity Duty was introduced in October 2019”, Chief Minister added.
Addressing at the GST Jaagrookta Abhiyan Chief Minister also added that the introduction of AI-based analytical tools has made it easier to detect fraud in GST in many cases. In addition,jtt the Tax Intelligence Unit is now actively monitoring suspicious activities such as fake registration and circular trading. Initiatives have been taken to further strengthen the Tax Intelligence Unit to increase taxpayers’ awareness of digital issues and prevent tax evasion.

Addressing at the GST Jaagrookta Abhiyan Hon’ble Finance, Planning & Coordination, Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said that GST is reflecting transparency and tax increase in the tax system in the state. In the financial year 2023-24, more than 3 thousand crore rupees of tax has been collected in the state in various tax sectors. The amount of tax collection in the state is increasing day by day due to the government working together with the taxpaying people. The government has taken various steps to simplify the tax system. Mission Zero, Fake Registration, fake registration, Saathi portal will be helpful to the people and taxpayers

Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Finance Secretary Apurba Roy also spoke at the event. State Tax Chief Commissioner Vivek HB delivered the welcome address. The Chief Minister inaugurated the GST GS and launched the Zero Fake Registration Mission. Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy also unveiled the new logo of the Taxes Organization and Chief Secretary JK Sinha launched the AI-powered chatbot ‘Kar Saathi’.
Chief Commissioner of the Income Tax Department Vivek H.B delivered the welcome address. Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Finance Secretary Apurba Roy also spoke at the event. The Chief Minister inaugurated the GST Gyan Kendra and launched the Zero Fake Registration Mission. Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy also unveiled the new logo of the Taxes Organization and Chief Secretary JK Sinha launched the AI-powered chatbot ‘Kar Saathi’.

The event felicitated prominent taxpayers associated with business organizations. In addition, the best performing charges and tax officers were also felicitated. The Chief Minister, Finance Minister and other guests presented mementos to them.
