Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Launches Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY).

Agartala, 16th of February 2024 : With the initiative of Government of Tripura launched Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) 2023 at Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan Ground, Agartala on Thursday (15th February, 2024).

In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha launched Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) on Thursday. Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) a health insurance scheme that will provide coverage of Rs. 5 lakh.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the Government has taken initiatives to provide health insurance services to all the people of the State. Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) was launched in the State along with other states of the country on September 23, 2018. Many beneficiaries of the country are benefiting from Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. About 5 lakh 12 thousand families out of 9 lakh 75 thousand families of the State have been included in this scheme. So far more than 2 lakh 94 thousand beneficiaries have received medical services under PM-JAY in the State. The CM-JAY is modeled on the PM-JAY. Only the cards are slightly different. The Chief Minister said that about 4 lakh 15 thousand families who did not get access to health insurance services under PM-JAY will be brought under CM-JAY.  

In the event, the Chief Minister said that in many cases, it is seen that people affected by the disease feel helpless in the medical test and treatment of their disease. The State Government has taken this scheme considering this helplessness of common people. The main objective of the scheme is to provide medical coverage to every citizen of the State. All the beneficiaries in the State who are not covered under PM-JAY, Building and other Construction Workers, Central Armed Police Force Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan Scheme or any other Government insurance scheme are covered under CM-JAY 2023.

Under this scheme, the beneficiaries can avail inpatient medical services in all listed Government and private hospitals in the State and outside the State. In this project, medicines will be provided from the hospital till 15 days after the leave. Government employees of different categories of the State can also come under this scheme. But they have to surrender medical allowance and medical reimbursement. Under the CM-JAY, eligible families will get free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh every year.

The Chief Minister also added that kidney transplant and therapy services can be started in the state. Training of doctors and nursing staff has been arranged for that. For the overall development of the health infrastructure of the State, the State Government has allocated funds in the budget for the construction of 100 health sub-centres. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre has launched Mera Aspataal Portal for cancer patients to avail medical services. A dental college has been started in Agartala in a very short time. Dental Council of India has highly appreciated the management of Agartala Dental College.

Chief Minister along with other guests distributed Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) cards to the beneficiaries on the occasion. The logo of Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) was unveiled on the occasion. An information slide on Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) is also displayed.

Kiran Gitte, Secretary of Health & Family Welfare Department, delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Dr. Basant Garg, Additional Chief Executive Officer (Addl CEO), National Health Authority (NHA) also spoke on the occasion. Hon’ble Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education, minister Tinku Roy, Hon’ble Tribal Welfare (TRP & PTG), Minorities Welfare minister Sukla Charan Noatia, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder, Social activist Rajib Bhattacharjee  and many other dignitaries were present in the programme. DK Chakma, Mission Director of National Health Mission, Tripura Branch has concluded the ceremony with vote of thanks.​
