Agartala, Tripura, 20th of August, 2026 : Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said evening OPD will be launched in Agartala, district and sub divisional hospitals of the state. All hospitals of the state will also be brought under digital service. He said this after inaugurating the newly constructed Bharatmata Canteen and Shelter House near GBP Hospital on Wednesday (19th August, 2026) . With the coming of this Bharatmata Canteen and Shelter House, people accompanying the patients from remote areas will now easily get accommodation and food facility. The Chief Minister said this project is the result of state government’s humane outlook. He said the government aims to provide all basic amenities to the people. But mere development of infrastructure will not suffice, their maintenance will be equally important.

He said, now kidney transplantation is being done free of cost at GBP Hospital. In the coming days initiative will be taken to facilitate other transplants including liver, heart transplants also. He said due to the holistic thinking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi advanced healthcare infrastructure is coming up in the country. The benefit of this was realised by the people during the Corona pandemic. Towards further development of healthcare facility in TTAADC area a new medical college and a 100-bed hospital will be established. In addition to the improved healthcare facilities, the purview of medical education has also expanded. The number of seats for MBBS, BDS, Nursing, has been increased. During the 2026-27 financial year efforts will be made to start study in the new Ayurvedic and Homeopathic College in the state. The Chief Minister informed that the Agartala Government Medical College ranks 131st in terms of quality of education among 823 medical colleges in the country. This is an achievement to be proud of.

Under Mukhyamantri Niramay Arogya Yojana more than 3.60 lakh people have benefited. Under Mukhyamantri Sustha Shoishab Sushtha Koishor Abhiyan 90 per cent children and adolescents have been vaccinated. Chief Minister said, Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission has played a significant role in the socio-economic development of the people of the state. The glaring example of this is Bharatmata Canteen and Shelter House. This project has been implemented under TULM with an investment of nearly Rs. 5 crore.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation and MLA Dipak Majumder was present as special guest, while the health and family welfare department secretary Kiran Gitte, AMC Commissioner Saju Vaheed A., and Mission Director of TULM Tarit Kanti Chakma graced the occasion as guests of honour. After the programme Chief Minister visited the Bharatmata Canteen and Shelter House building and instructed the concerned officials to be sincere about its maintenance. Welcome address was delivered by the urban development secretary Milind Ramteke.
